ADDIS ABABA, June 30 (Xinhua) — The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has congratulated Ethiopia on the election of the East African country a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. Amnesty International Requested Ethiopian Government to Allow Habtamu, opposition politician to obtain treatment abroad

Habtamu Ayalew, the former spokesman for the opposition Andenet (Unity) party was arrested on July 8, 2014 and charged with terrorism for allegedly collaborating with the opposition Ginbot 7, which the Ethiopian government has designated a terrorist group.
